About Us

SMRU Ltd is owned by the University of St Andrews.  We exist to carry out a number of functions, including:

• Commercialisation of activities and expertise associated with the Sea Mammal Research Unit, a Public Sector Research Establishment (PSRE)
  
• Commercialisation of Intellectual Property, expertise and advisory capabilities available within other relevant departments of the University of St Andrews
  
• Provision of business development support to the PSRE
  
• Provision of high quality, authoritative advice to marine-based industry

SMRU Ltd is overseen by an independent Board of Directors.  We employ a core of key staff providing commercial, administrative and scientific advice and support to clients and partners.

SMRU Ltd works with a range of other individuals and organisations, bringing together a network of key partners both within the University of St Andrews and making use of our extensive range of independent contacts.
