SMRU Ltd is working in partnership with several hardware and software developers, including our colleagues in the Sea Mammal Research Unit, to provide a suite of bespoke and cutting edge tools to support our risk assessment and monitoring services.  These include ongoing development of underwater marine mammal tracking sonar, a device that can be used to act as an early warning system for collision risk with marine mammals; development of fixed Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) devices to provide an alternative to mobile, boat-based monitoring instruments; and the application of the Sea Mammal Research Unit’s existing world class satellite and mobile phone tracking tag technology to commercial or other activities.
