North America

SMRU Ltd expanded its physical presence into North America in 2009, with a new branch office in Vancouver, Canada and a satellite office in Seattle, USA.  Continuing to work closely with UK based scientists, we have strengthened our present network of relationships and secured new multiple collaborations and contracts across the region.

Research scientists provide comprehensive experience in licensing, premitting and environmental assessment (FERC, NEPA, MMPA, CEAA), endangered and special-status species consultation, field study design, applied research and cutting edge technical solutions for marine industries.  Marine renewable and oil and gas projects to date highlight marine mammal monitoring (acoustic and visual observations) and anthropogenic noise assessments, through multiple collaborations (e.g. Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Centre, HDR-DTA, US Department of Energy, Snohomish PUD/The Whale Museum).
